Contrary to previous reports of a low crime rate the Seychelles is now suffering from a crystal methamphetemine epidemic leading to a high risk of robbery. All visitors should take extreme care. The police are ineffective and the court system suffers from corruption. The country does have the 2nd highest number of rapes per capita in the world (to put this in perspective, however: Australia is no. 3 and Canada no. 5 in this statistic).
