You can see mountain gorillas in Uganda, Rwanda and Democratic Republic of Congo.
Gorilla trekking in Democratic Republic of Congo was not recommended 2009 due to lack of security.
It is easiest to visit mountain gorillas in Rwanda if you travel on your own.
You can for instance combine a safari in Kenya and Tanzania with a short visit to the mountain gorillas in Rwanda.
Uganda, finally, is a very beautiful country with much more to offer beside the mountain gorillas.
It is not easy to travel around by bus or car so therefore it is better to book a tour with a local operator.
A classic 11-12 days tour in Uganda generally include the following places.
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
You spend one hour with the gorillas which cost 500 USD.
Kibale Forest
Probably the highest concentration of primates in the world. Here you track chimpanzees.
Queen Elizabeth National Park
Safari in savanna.
Ishasha
Ishasha is a part of Queen Elizabeth National Park. It is famous for tree climbing lions.
Murchison Falls National Park
Safari in savanna where you can see among other animals elephants, lions, giraffes, buffalos and antelopes. You will see crocodiles and hippopotamus.
Other places which can be included in the tours are for instance Lake Mburo National Park and Ngamba Island.
KiSwahili and English are the main languages.
English is spoken as widely as in Kenya or Tanzania.
No information on Forex.
Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is best visited December to Mars or mid-June to September.
The Mgahinga gorillas sometimes cross the border into DRC (Congo) however this is seldom and usually only for a few days mainly during the last few weeks of the dry seasons, September and Mars.

Kampala is the capital. It is pretty safe to walk around during the day in virtually any part of the capital. The worst thing about Kampala is the traffic. Some of Africa's capitals are notorious for muggings and robberies, but Kampala has never been one of them.
