Flights

Travel Help recommends you to use www.reseguiden.se when you are planning your flights. Use the +/- 3 days menu and fetch all flight costs. An overview of all costs for different departure and return dates immediately gives you information about which travel dates you should avoid due to high flight costs. You also get an indication of which travel dates have the lowest costs, especially if some low cost air companies only fly on some week days.

The example below was for 2012 and the search was done for flights from Gothenburg. Book your flights as early as possible to get the lowest prices. You should book your flights before Christmas if you want the absolute best flight prices for the next year.

Accommodation photos

New York is the city that never sleeps and is one of the most exciting cities in the world. It consists of five boroughs: Manhattan, The Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, and Staten Island.

The most central and convenient location for hostels in New York is Manhattan where most of the major attractions are located.

If you want a nice hostel on Manhattan Island you cannot get a mixed dorm on HostelWorld.

Getting around

http://wikitravel.org/en/New_York_City#Get_around

The subway is cheap ( $2 per ride), round-the-clock and easily the fastest and most reliable way to get around the city. It is also safer and a bit cleaner than it used to be. Visit www.mta.info for information.

Taxi drivers expect 10% tip.

Dangers & Annoyances

Crime rates remain at their lowest in years. There are few neighborhoods remaining where you might feel scared, and that's mainly in the outer boroughs, no matter what time of night it is. Subway stations are generally safe too. Use common sense and don't walk around alone at night in unfamiliar, sparsely populated areas.
