Slip route is a group of coaches that are separated from the main train and attached to another going in a different direction. You don’t need to change to another train at any station. During reservation itself you will be placed in the respective slip coach.

Car ( gypsy ): Ramnagar => Dhikala inside Corbett National Park

While inside the park, better not to use your own vehicle because only a trained professional have the idea where about to go. In Ramnagar you can organize a 4WD fully open jeep (gypsy) with a driver at the various travel agencies. It cost about Rs 1800.00-2500.00, depends upon the negotiation for two days.

When you reach the information office in Ramnagar, one thing you should keep in mind is that the entry to the Corbett National park is limited i.e. everyday a fixed number of vehicles are allowed to enter the zone. After you reach there, you need to fill a form specifying your name and your companion’s names and age and address and all. Then submit it to the counter and pay in cash the entry fees. If you are lucky i.e. if you are in the limited number of tourists, you will get entry pass which you need to present at the Check post at Dhikala, Bijrani and Sonanadi.

Where is the office?

Dhangari gate is located 19 kms away from Ramnagar and Dhikala Tourist Complex is 32 Kms away from Dhangari Gate. Dhikala is open for tourists from 15th November to 15th June. Dhikala is inaccessible in Monsoon period.

Transfer from railway-station to hotel: 4 km, autorickshaw for Rs 30 (15)

It is 10 km from Sawai Madhopur to the first gate, where you pay admission, and another 3 km to the main gate and Ranthambore Fort.

2006 they estimated that only 15 were in the Ranthambore national park. The remaining tigers are so used to being observed that they are not scared away by jeeps and canters ( large open-topped trucks seating 20 ). Seeing a tiger is just a matter of luck, but the park is also worth visiting for the scenery alone, particularly if you walk up to the fort.

The best time to take a wildlife safari in the national park is between October and April. A jeep takes five persons. Safaris take three hours. From October to Februari, canters cost Rs 150 (150) and jeeps Rs 1050. Both leave 7 am and 2.30 pm.

Transfer from hotel to park: ???

Visit Ranthambore national park and walk up to the fort, Rs 200 (25).

Jeep safari, Rs 1050 (1050) in the morning and canter, Rs 150 (150) in the afternoon.

Transfer: Jabalpur => Kanha National Park

Jabalpur has the nearest airport and railway head, about 3 hours away. Mandla is the nearest city. Khatia (3 km from Kisli) and Mukki are the two main entry points to the Kanha National Park. From Jabalpur, Kisli is 165 km via Chiraidongri, and Mukki is 203 km via Motinala and Garhi. For travellers from Bilaspur (182 km), Raipur (213 km) and Balaghat (83 km), Mukki on State Highway No. 26 is more convenient. From Nagpur, Kisli is 259 km via Nainpur and Chiraidongri, and Mukki is 289 km via Balaghat.

There is a tourist taxi service from Jabalpur to the national park.

From jabalpur, travel via mandla and Nainpur - perhaps with an overnight stop - and take the diversion at Bamhni. There are three gates for entrance into the forest. The Kisli gate is best accessed from Jabalpur and stops at the village Khatia, inside the buffer area.

Aurangabad makes an excellent base from which to explore the World Heritage site of Ellora.

You can also visit the Aurangabad Caves and Bibi-qa-Maqbara if you get time over.

Book the tours as soon as possible if that hasn't been done already. Classic Tours, 2335598, aurangabad@classicservices.in, is a trusty place to book tours.

Ajanta, Rs 270, 8 am - 5.30 pm.

Ellora including all other local sites, Rs 170, 9.30 - 5.30.

Tours start and end at the MTDC Holiday Resort.

Visit the Ellora Caves and the fort Daulatabad. Share jeeps depart from the taxi stand next to the bus stand for destinations around Aurangabad, including Ellora and Daulatabad.

Halfway, 13km, between Aurangabad and the Ellora caves is the ruined but truly magnificent hilltop fortress of Daulatabad. It is a peaceful spot, with numerous monkeys and squirrels playing on the battlements and pompous peacocks strutting their stuff on the lawns.

The Ellora caves are 30 km from Aurangabad. The masterpiece is the breathtaking Kailasa Tample dedicated to Shiva. It is the world's largest monolithic sculpture, hewn from the rock by 7000 workers over a 150-year period. If you only have time to visit either Ellora or Ajanta then make it Ellora.

Visit the Ajanta Caves which are located 105 km northeast of Aurangabad.
