Hong Kong Island has the lion's share of the territory's most popular pubs, bars and clubs. Much of central's fun nightlife revolves around Lan Kwai Fong but it is an expensive area to party. Wan Chai is another area.

For the most part, the entertainment scene in Kowloon plays second fiddle to the hot spots of Hong Kong Island. There are three basic clusters of bars in Tsim Sha Tsui - along Ashley Rd, within the triangle formed by HanoiRd, Prat Ave and Chatham and finally up along Knutsford Tce.

I cannot go directly to El Nido so it requires and extra night in Puerto Princesa.

El Nido ( 3 nights, Saturday => Tuesday )

Tricycle: Pension in Puerto Princesa => San Jose Bus Terminal 50 PHP

Bus: Buses to El Nido departs 5, 7 and 9 a.m. The trip takes 7-8 hours and costs 350 PHP.

Bus is the cheapest way to get to El Nido from Puerto Princesa (around P300) compared to a boat ride from Sabang which costs P6000 per boat and takes 6 hours (with a stop in Port Barton after 3 hours). The earliest trip from Puerto Princesa is at 5am in the morning. My friend and I had to wake up around 4am in order to pack our things and to give time-allowance for the tricycle ride from Rizal Ave. to the San Jose Bus Terminal. Tricycle fare is around P50 and takes around 30 minutes to the terminal. I tried to haggle but it wasn't good enough. If you're looking to buy a quick breakfast, Dunkin Donuts is open 24-hours. Don't forget to order Chocobutternut and Choco-Honeydipped. Be there early to have a good seat. The bus leaves on time surprisingly and takes around 6-8 hours. The road is paved until Roxas and then you have to endure a gruelling travel through dusty roads with occasional reprieve since the roads are slowly being built. Don't forget to take out your jacket to avoid inhaling dust... a lot of dust. They had to fix the bus in Roxas and there were two rest-stops: breakfast in Roxas and lunch in Taytay. Try to walk around the Spanish fort in Taytay since the lunchstop takes about 15-20 minutes. Just make sure to tell the driver and the bus conductor about it so you won't be left behind. If you miss the 5am bus, don't worry since there's another one every hour until 9am.

Walk: Bus station => Hotel in El Nido

"I El nido åt jag på samma ställe varje kväll. Det var bara en vagn på gatan där maten kostade 50 peso och deras vatten till 10 peso. Otroligt gott. Du kan fråga dig fram. Its best to download the word document available here, which has a map that you can print out and show to the tricycle driver.

If by chance a tricycle driver tells you he does not know how to get there, then just get dropped off at the top of B. Mendoza Street, and ask one of our friendly neighbours who will point you in the right direction.

***NOTE ON TAXIS FROM AIRPORT: Coupon (pre-paid) taxis are available at the airports to bring you to our inn or any other place. Rates are fixed and dependent on the destination and generally are more expensive compared to what you would pay in an ordinary metered taxi. Coupon taxi counters usually are found immediately after exiting customs in our airports. Expect to pay somewhere between US$10 to 15 for destinations within Metro Manila. The usual metered taxis are generally not allowed at the Arrival Terminal of airports so you would either need to catch an ordinary metered taxi un-loading passengers at the Departure Area of the airport or outside the airport complex. This may be easier said than done however, particularly when lugging around kilos upon kilos of baggage. But if you don't have lots of luggage, it's best to get ordinary metered taxis for lower fare. ??? PHP

Activities 1st day:

17:30 - Settle in and proceed to the dining area for tea/coffee.

19:30 - The Camp Captain or staff on duty will give a briefing on the programmes and activities during your stay.

20:00 - Dinner

21:00 - Where weather permits and the river conditions are right, a night safari will be organised on the Lakes or on the main river after dinner at about 9:00 p.m. There will be a spot light on board the safari boats and the guides will do the spot lighting for wildlife. You will see many sleepy PROBOSCIS MONKEYS, Owls, Herons and Crocodiles.

22:30 - you should be back in the Camp. Do not go straight to bed. Try to keep awake a bit longer and sit quietly in the dining area. You will almost certainly see a few CIVET CATS roaming around the dining area and jumping on the dining table. Sometimes, a LEOPARD CAT may also turn up. You will also, very likely, see BEARDED PIGS. A female bearded Pig, "KUM KUM" (pronounced as 'come come') and her family are regular visitors.

24:00 - Lights out.

Activities 2nd day:

6:00 - The staff on duty will do a morning call and shout "MORNING SAFARI, MORNING SAFARI". Those who do not wake up would be left to continue to sleep peacefully and it would be nobody else's fault if the Morning Safari is missed. Quickly do your toilet and bathroom thing and then get to the dining shed for a cup of coffee and biscuits before starting the Morning Safari. Try not to miss this. Plenty of wildlife are seen during the Morning Safari. It is just so beautiful to see the sun rising above the misty river.

6:30 - Morning Safari

8:30 - You should be back in the Camp for breakfast.

10:30 - After breakfast, at about 10:30 a.m., the Camp Captain/staff on duty will organise activities for visitors. If weather condition is right, a trek in the jungle would be carried out to introduce you to the flora and fauna. Some insects and frogs may also be spotted. Though late morning is not the best time for wildlife viewing, Orang Utans are sometimes seen.

12:30 - Lunch. After lunch, have a nap and rest. In the heat of the afternoon, not much wildlife will be seen. Afternoon time is also the time when our staff take a break.
During their afternoon break, the staff often play volleyball or what they call "Shaolin Soccer". Some of them may go fishing. They will always invite visitors to joins them in their games and activities. Do not be shy to join in the fun. They will be happy to have you join them in their fun and games. After tea time, take a walk along the lake shores to the point where the two lakes meet. This is where you will have a good chance to see some otters.

17:00 - At about 5:00 p.m., an evening boat ride would be conducted. During the last hour or so before dark, plenty of wildlife can be seen. If the sky is clear and evening sun strong, this would be a good time to take some photographs.
The evening ride would be for about 1 hour 30 mins.

20:00 - Dinner.

21:00 - A night trek will be organised. The jungle at night is different from the day. Though this activity is considered "quite tough" as it involves walking in the swampy area, many visitors find the trek at night to be the most interesting activity.
