The location of the hostel or hotel is very important. The ideal location is of course within walking distance to nightlife, close to tourist attractions, close to shopping, close to the beach and easy to reach from the airport. Many times you have to prioritize since there are no hostels or hotels with high ratings which are close to all of them. Travel Help prioritize high rating hostels which are within walking distance to nightlife. The reason is of course that during the day you can always travel by bus or subway. After midnight you usually have to walk or take an expensive taxi.
Extensive information about nightlife areas and nightclubs will be published here in the future. You will have a map where you can see the locations of all the interesting places, addresses to the good nightclubs with a little information about each of them. We will inform you about the clubs which are most popular and also some information about clubs for people over 30. Nightclubs open and close and it is therefore difficult to have all information up to date. You will therefore get web addresses to the clubs so you can check if they still are alive.
While waiting for the information to be published here you have to find it yourself on Internet. Search for ‘cityname’ and ‘nightlife’ on www.google.com. www.salsapower.com has the best information about salsa dance clubs.

Two squares are very popular. They are surrounded but nightlife facilities like bars, clubs restaurants and hang out’s. The two squares are called “Rembrandt square” and “Leidseplein”.
At Leidseplein you will find bars and pubs. There is a good comedy club there and you are very close to the Holland casino. Nearby you will also find “Melkweg” and “Paradiso” which are both big venue’s where they have live music mixed with dance party’s.
At Rembrandt square you will encounter more the clubs nightlife scene with many different types of nightclubs in a small radius area. Depending on the day and the club you will almost never pay more than 15 euros to get in any of them. Only on special occasions they could charge a higher entrance fee. A few of the favourites are Studio 80, The Coconuts bar and De Kroon, but the most popular clubs in Amsterdam have to be Escape(Rembrandt square) and Jimmy Woo(Leidseplein).
A few other regular hot spots are Sinners / Heaven located at Wagenstraat 3–7, and the now famous Panama located at Oostelijke Handelskade 4 in the docks area of the city at the back of central station a new up-and-coming warehouse district.
Club More located at Rozengracht 133 is an exclusive club operated by the owners of the really famous Supper Club restaurant chain, with the same chic feel about it and attracting the "It" crowd.

The travel cost below was estimated for 2012.
The best alternative is probably Lufthansa but then you have one stop on your way there and another stop on your way home. Each way has a total flight time of 4-5 hours and the total cost is only 1.383 SEK.
KLM is another alternative if you want direct flights and the cost is then 1.931 SEK.
You get the best price if you book your tickets well in advance. KLM and Lufthansa release their tickets about 10 months before departure.
Hostels have different accommodation alternatives such as private rooms for one, two or several persons beside the dormitories with different number of beds. Many hostels have special dormitories only for females. Some rooms are specified as 'ensuite' which means that they have their own bathroom and not a shared bathroom.
Travel Help has only specified one or two of the accommodation alternatives the hostels have. We use hostels since we think that it is a much nicer alternative compared to hotels. The hostels we use have high ranking and many reviews so you will feel at home and it is easy to get to know people from all around the world. We think that, if available, 8-bed mixed dormitories are nice if you want to get to know other people. Use the Hostel World link if you prefer other alternatives.
International Budget Hostel
6-bed mixed dorm: 231 SEK, 416 SEK (Friday and Saturday)
Prices for Mars. Prices for summer months were not available in February.
( Price for July from Hostel World 2012-02-23 )
We have calculated with a maximum cost of 200 SEK as a general transfer cost between airport and hostel for all our weekend journeys. It is more or less always correct unless you take a taxi which are more expensive.
Single person: 1.383 + 200 + 231 + 2x416 SEK = 2.646 SEK
