Flights

Travel Help recommends you to use www.reseguiden.se when you are planning your flights for a long-weekend in Europe. Use the +/- 3 days menu and fetch all flight costs. Some costs for weekend departures are missing which seems to be a program error. Most likely you want to travel before Saturday and Sunday and in such a case this error has minor importance. An overview of all costs for different departure and return dates immediately gives you information about which travel dates you should avoid due to high flight costs. You also get an indication of which travel dates have the lowest costs, especially if some low cost air companies only fly on some week days.

The example below was for 2012 and the search was done on 2012-02-23 for flights from Gothenburg. Book your flights as early as possible to get the lowest prices. You should book your flights before Christmas if you want the absolute best flight prices for the next year.

Flight (Ryanair) on Friday: Gothenburg/City Airport 10:15 => London/Stansted 11:10

Flight (Ryanair) on Tuesday: London/Stansted 18:15 => Gothenburg/City Airport 21:05

The price in this example is 1.078 SEK on 2012-02-23 for flights in August.

Compare with for instance British Airways or SAS which flies to Heathrow.

The member information contains further information on how you get the absolute lowest flight prices!

London Underground's Piccadilly Line provides the most cost-effective rail route between Heathrow Airport and the capital.

Journey time is under an hour and you shouldn't have to wait longer than ten minutes for a train, even off-peak.

Where to catch trains

Heathrow has three London Underground stations – one for Terminals 1 and 3, one each at Terminal 4 and Terminal 5.

Heathrow Terminals 1 and 3 station is in the central area between the terminals and a few minutes' walk from them via underground walkways. Terminal 4 and Terminal 5 stations are in the basements of the terminal buildings. All stations are in Travelcard Zone 6.

Fares and tickets

A single fare to central London costs approximately £4. Purchase a Travelcard and you're covered for London buses and some mainline trains too.

Tickets are available at all London Underground stations, from ticket offices or machines. Pre-paid Oyster cards can also be used on the London Underground.

Train times

The first and last trains to and from Heathrow are given in the table below. Train times and fares are subject to change – please confirm using the London Underground website or call +44 (0)20 7222 1234 before travelling.
