The location of the hostel or hotel is very important. The ideal location is of course within walking distance to nightlife, close to tourist attractions, close to shopping, close to the beach and easy to reach from the airport. Many times you have to prioritize since there are no hostels or hotels with high ratings which are close to all of them. Travel Help prioritize high rating hostels which are within walking distance to nightlife. The reason is of course that during the day you can always travel by bus or subway. After midnight you usually have to walk or take an expensive taxi. Observe that St. Christopher's is not located within walking distance to the nightlife areas!
Extensive information about nightlife areas and nightclubs will be published here in the future. You will have a map where you can see the locations of all the interesting places, addresses to the good nightclubs with a little information about each of them. We will inform you about the clubs which are most popular and also some information about clubs for people over 30. Nightclubs open and close and it is therefore difficult to have all information up to date. You will therefore get web addresses to the clubs so you can check if they still are alive.
While waiting for the information to be published here you have to find it yourself on Internet. Search for ‘cityname’ and ‘nightlife’ on www.google.com. www.salsapower.com has the best information about salsa dance clubs.

Most areas of Paris nightlife can be reached via the Metro, but be aware that the trains stop running around midnight. You can either party until 5:30 am when they open again, or take a taxi back to your hotel. Night buses are also an option, but they operate less frequently than normal city buses.
The Latin Quarter including Rue de La Huchette
Dancing it it up and one of the small – but fun – Latin Quarter
bars.
This is generally regarded as a place for the 20s and early 30s partiers. It's half-dozen narrow streets are comprised mainly of cafes and ethnic restaurants (lots of Greek tavernas, in fact). A half-dozen small bars can be found along the "main" street, Rue de La Huchette. The most lively of these is Bar Ambiance Latino, with good music, a small dance floor and even a disco ball. George's Cafe at the end of the street is a sit-down bar with cool tunes, though the patrons seem to have a bit less enthusiasm than the bubbly waitresses. Continue across the street to Polly Magoo, a neat little bar with a big screen, upstairs restaurant and friendly patrons.
One of our favorite places in Paris is on the other side of the Latin Quarter entrance, The Friendly Canadian. On Quay De La Tourrelle at Rue Git-Le-Cour, it's a newer pub with very cold beer, leather seats and sofa and, believe it or not, ESPN. Yes, a bar showing sports other than soccer, rugby or other European favorites. It has no less than four plasma TVs and a jovial crowd, to match. Just down the street toward St. Michel is a very small but lively Irish pub, LeGatway, with a live Irish band. A favorite of longtime Paris visitors is Harry's American Bar (by the Opera House, 5 Rue Danou), birthplace of the bloody mary. It can be expensive at up to 15 Euros a drink, though.
Bastille
The Bastille area, perfectly suited for twentysomethings looking for a party. Less crowded than Oberkamps Paris, Bastille is home to a rich variety of nightlife including classy clubs, music venues, and dive bars. Clubs in Paris feature diverse music, and Bastille is no exception. From salsa to electronic dance music, you’ll find options reflecting a variety of cultures in this area of the city.
The large plaza, Place de la Bastille, is the main entrance point and bar-hoppers are immediately greeted by an Irish bar on the corner, But for the real action, continue down the street to a row of about a dozen bars on the small side streets. It's the intersection of Rue DeLa Rouquette @ Rue De Lappe and the place to begin this journey is Iguana Cafe on the corner.
Hot, sweaty dancers jam the flooor at Chantier Interdit, a pub/club.
The best and most lively place is near the main intersection. Chantier Interdit is part bar, part lounge and part club. Hot and sweaty dancers fill the small dance floor and the place just cranks.
The Bastille area goes later than the Latin Quarter so a good routine is to start at the former and wind up at the latter. And for you late-night clubbing owls, keep reading on how to party on in Paris.
Oberkampf
One of the most popular nightlife districts is Oberkamps Paris, a trendy district that gained popularity in the mid-90s for its condensed nightlife scene. Some visitors complain that Oberkamps Paris is too crowded, but if you’re looking for a bustling night out, this is the place to go. Complete with relaxed cafés, bars, and music venues, lively travelers will find something to suit their mood in this area of Paris.

Paris' hot nightclubs clubs are Budda Bar, a place with no name on the door and Etoile. This is where to see the "pretty people of Paris" in a nightclub scene. Both are located in Champs-Elysées – any taxi driver knows the location – and be sure to dress the part.

The travel cost below was estimated for 2012.
RyanAir release their tickets about 7 months before departure. 289 SEK each way was the lowest price we found on their web site for direct flight from Gothenburg. It makes 578 SEK but with taxes it becomes 1.235! SEK. You have to pay 421 SEK extra if you want to check in a 15 kg suitcase and 631 SEK if you want to check in a 20 kg suitcase. 15 kg will probably be enough for a long-weekend without bath. There is also an extra administration cost including booking on Internet with a credit card. The total cost after all additional costs is 1.782 SEK, or in other words approximately 3.1 times the original flight cost.
Another alternative is Lufthansa but then you have one stop on your way there and another stop on your way home. Each way has a total flight time of 3-5 hours and the total cost is 1.325 SEK. You get the best price if you book your tickets well in advance. They release their tickets approximately 10 months before departure.
The best alternative is probably AirFrance which has direct flights from 1.436 SEK.
Hostels have different accommodation alternatives such as private rooms for one, two or several persons beside the dormitories with different number of beds. Many hostels have special dormitories only for females. Some rooms are specified as 'ensuite' which means that they have their own bathroom and not a shared bathroom.
Travel Help has only specified one or two of the accommodation alternatives the hostels have. We use hostels since we think that it is a much nicer alternative compared to hotels. The hostels we use have high ranking and many reviews so you will feel at home and it is easy to get to know people from all around the world. We think that, if available, 8-bed mixed dormitories are nice if you want to get to know other people. Use the Hostel World link if you prefer other alternatives.
St. Christopher's
6-bed mixed dorm: 342 SEK, 379 SEK (Friday and Saturday)
( Price for June from Hostel World 2012-02-23 )
We have calculated with a maximum cost of 200 SEK as a general transfer cost between airport and hostel for all our weekend journeys. It is more or less always correct unless you take a taxi which are more expensive.
Single person: 1.436 + 200 + 3x342 + 2x379 SEK = 3.420 SEK
